"Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways." Proverbs 4:25-26 NIV
I have been feeling overwhelmed with all the distractions lately. Never in my memory have I felt so many beacons flashing for my attention. With all the unrest, it's like there is continuous distraction of noise pulling at me. I want my eyes to be focused on things of eternal value, but I feel so easily distracted by the least little thing. I am sure I am not the only person feeling this way. God never intended for us to just toughen up. He does not want us going it alone. He has admonished us to worry about nothing and pray about everything.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take." Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT We become overwhelmed when we mistake our call to prayer and dependence on God with some perceived idea that our action is needed for everything. Social media is so toxic right now. We must guard ourselves, or we can so easily be sucked up into things God has not meant for us to take on. If God is calling you to do something, He will confirm it. In fact, the more we pray, the more answers we will receive. Our closeness will increase toward God. I strongly know that God is the "peace speaker." He speaks peace and direction into every situation if we stay focused on Him. Things of the world bring anxiety, but trust in the Lord brings a supernatural calm. "Don't let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me." John 14:1 NLT
I am not advocating checking out, to somehow pull out the God card and say, "Oh well, He's got the whole world in His hands." No, on the contrary, we must CHECK-IN! Check into God for strength, confirmation, and direction. Proverbs 4:25-26 again, "Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways."
