God Comforts Us In All Our Troubles.
“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles.” 2 Corinthians 1:3 NLT There have been many times that I have felt troubled and anxious. It’s not a habitual thing for me, but it’s frustrating when it does. I suppose I feel I should be above that because of the blood of Jesus and the fact that he lives in me. Many times in those moments, I have not necessarily wanted a fixer, I didn’t need that. I know it’s just stress and emotion, maybe hormones, or whatever.
I know those feelings will pass, and I’ll feel better. Although the troubles.... well, we all have them. We are talking about feelings today. But... In moments like that, what I need is comfort and grace. For me, I need to refocus. I pray and usually get some worship music going. I love how this verse says, “He comforts us in all our troubles.” This verse doesn’t say, fixes all our troubles. It says comforts. Sometimes we think because we are followers of Jesus that He will just perfectly fix everything immediately or protect us from those kinds of feelings altogether. There are many times I believe His hands are tied momentarily. His big plan is working in our lives and sometimes our faith gets challenged. In those times, he just sweetly comes to comfort us. His comforting is through our spirit. As we turn to Him, in whatever state we are in, He is there. With a smile, or perhaps with just a compassionate, welcoming look. He is the kind of comforter that just waits with us. We are not alone. It’s like I see this visual of Him sitting next to us. He is holding one hand as His other arm is around our shoulder. “He comforts us in all our troubles.” God is with us. God is for us. We all have ‘stuff.’ We choose to let your comfort come from the Lord. We need to focus and draw our strength and comfort from Him. He is for us and with us. He loves us and promises never to leave us or forsake us.
