No Need to Keep Score
Have you ever fallen into the trap of keeping score? I am sure that you have; I know I have, we all have! It is my hope that you strive to outgrow that, and know the wisdom of letting things go. But for those times that we find ourselves looking around at others and comparing and then keeping a tally, don’t do it. Is it ever really going to accomplish anything?
“For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.” II Cor 10:12 NKJV
When we fall into the trap of comparisons, we will always end up on the short end of the stick. It causes us to feel we are lesser than and inferior. There will always be those who appear more accomplished, richer, smarter, better looking, better liked, thinner, more charismatic, etc., etc., etc. But here is the clincher; the one, the enemy, can get us with so easily, Comparison! Because they have all those things/blessings, they must be more loved or favored by God. He doesn’t love/care about me as much because there’s this in my life. “I can never get ahead,” “I hate my looks, everything about me is less than someone else,” “nobody likes me, I have no friends,” on and on..... blah blah blah! It’s a horrible whirlpool of negativity, dragging us down, down, down. We must put a stop to this trick of the enemy and stop all the pointless comparisons! It’s not Godly! Comparison and score-keeping is the thief of joy!
“For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.” James 3:16 NKJV We serve a God of the individual. God loves you exactly the way you are. He has made you and called you by name. We need to keep our eyes focused on Him. He has a plan and purpose for our lives. If there are things in your life you don’t like, give it to God and move on. If it’s sin, confess it, repent and move on. If you have a tendency to keep score, put the score pad away, and give justice to God. Get your eyes on Jesus. Keep your eyes on Jesus. His eyes are always watching you. He knows what we are going through. He truly IS working on our behave. Working all things together for our good. We have to believe that it’s all part of trust. His blessings make us rich, and He adds no sorrow with it. “But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.” Galatians 6:4 NKJV
