Unswerving Hope

“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:23 “Be still, and know that I am God!” Psalms 46:10 NKJV

The command “Be Still” is difficult to obey. It is especially difficult when there is so much unanswered stuff going on in our heads. We take on so much. Everywhere we turn, information is bombarding us. Even with our concerns and worries, we still feel surprised and thrown for a loop when difficulties and trials arise. Jesus told us we will face adversity in John 16:33, “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth, you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” We need to be still and have peace that Jesus has conquered the world. He is in control. In may look like chaos, but it is controlled chaos! Jesus is in control. There is way more than earthly rewards to be had. The verse says, “and know I am God.” As we live in the power of a renewed mind, we learn to know God better and clearer. Keeping our minds in line with God’s word and our relationship with Him is like, keeping our heads on straight. If I waver or let my mind go, I easily feel downcast and overwhelmed. Sometimes my thoughts feel like they are caught in a whirlpool, spinning, and spinning as it pulls me down. That does not need to be the case. We must put on the mind of Christ. Which are peace and power. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” II Tim 1:7 He is our confidence in times of trouble. He is our hope in adversity, trials, and basically, for every minute of every day. We must hold unswervingly to the hope we have through Jesus Christ. Because of his faithfulness, we can live life with no fear because God is the giver of peace, not fear. And lastly, the Spirit of God that lives within us gives us the power to love the unlovely. We walk in self-control and a SOUND MIND because of His grace. “Do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will.” Hebrews 10:35 NLT
